Graduate Student of the Week: Owen Wagner

Raleigh, N.C.

Previous degrees?

BS Agronomy – NCSU

MS Ag. Economics – Virginia Tech

Who is your adviser?

I’m MBAE, so no adviser. I’m focusing my coursework around precision ag. and spatial/statistical analysis of agricultural data.

What first made you interested in this field?

A fascination with creating value-added products from raw materials.

What do you like most about the department?

The department offers a good selection of courses, the MBAE program provides a lot of flexibility and NC State is a comparative bargain for in-state tuition. As a bonus to commuters, Weaver labs is convenient to free parking at the McKimmon center.

What is a little known fact about you?

I didn’t get into the program the first time I applied. I also work full-time, have a lovely wife, two kids, a dog and a mortgage – the full catastrophe.
